Cactus flower snail

Here, a snail transforms into a hybrid creature, where the organic and the plant meet. I wanted its shell, covered in spines, to evoke the texture of a cactus, while a flower blooms at its top.

This illustration was created in watercolor and ink. First the snail, then the flower. The two were assembled in Photoshop.
